Unplanned machine downtime costs money. For Homag machines – whether edge banders, saws or CNC machining centers – most downtimes can be avoided by a well-thought-out spare parts inventory. We show which parts regularly wear out and what no operation should be without.
Wear parts on edge banders (Homag KAL)
Glue pot and glue application system
The glue will set if left for too long or if overheated. Heating elements, temperature sensors and glue rollers should be checked regularly and replaced if necessary.
The rubber rollers that press the edge band to the panel become hard over time and leave marks. They should be replaced every 1–2 years, depending on throughput.
Milling cutters and reversible inserts
Flush milling cutters and copy milling cutters are wear tools. Regular sharpening extends their service life, but eventually, the blades or reversible inserts need to be replaced.
The steel blades for surface finishing become dull after 4–8 weeks, depending on the material and duration of use. It is advisable to always have 2–3 blades in stock.
Protective shields and covers
Plastic protective shields on milling units splinter on contact with workpieces. Too small to be largely noticeable – but the machine must not be operated without a protective shield.
Wear parts on CNC machining centers (Homag BAZ/BMG)
– Suction cups and sealing lips on the clamping table (every 6–18 months depending on utilization)
– Tool holders (HSK 63 / ISO 30) – check for breakages and runout deviations
– Coolant filters and lines
– Toothed belts on axis drives (observe maintenance schedule)
Always keep the following parts in stock:
- 2× pressure rollers (depending on machine type)
- 1 set of reversible inserts for each milling unit
- 1× replacement heating element for glue pot
- Assortment of seals for pneumatic cylinders
We offer Homag-compatible spare parts for the most common models – quickly available and at fair prices.
