The KAL series at a glance
Homag classifies its edge banding machines into performance classes:
KAL 310 / 370: Entry-level models for smaller businesses, manual adjustment, robust basic equipment. Ideal for joineries and cabinet makers producing up to 100 parts daily.
KAL 510 / 560: Mid-range with extended units (pre-milling unit, radius and copying milling, scraping blade). For medium series in kitchen and furniture manufacturing.
KAL 610 / 660 / 710: High-performance models for industrial throughputs. Full unit equipment, Laser-Edge technology, feed speeds up to 30 m/min.
Laser Edge – the technology of the future
The newer Homag models with Laser-Edge technology bond the edge using laser energy instead of glue. The result is an almost invisible joint, extremely resistant to moisture. This technology is particularly in demand for high-gloss and bathroom furniture production.
Buying used: which model years are recommended
On the used market, Homag KAL machines from model year 2008 to the present are particularly sought after. From this year onwards, most models are equipped with a Woodcom network interface, which facilitates integration into modern production environments. Older models without network connectivity are cheaper but less suitable for automated lines.
